HOUSTON (ICIS)--US May exports of epoxy resins increased by 12% year on year, according to data made available on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
The ITC data said that May epoxy resin export volumes totaled 11,571 tonnes, up from 10,355 tonnes a year ago.
The increase in exports came as prices were largely steady in the $1.50-1.55/lb ($3,307-3,417/tonne, €2,579-2,665/tonne) range on a DEL bulk (delivered in bulk) basis.
However, softer demand and continued lower prices overseas led to May exports falling by 20% month on month from April’s total of 14,553 tonnes.
On the import side, May volumes were 8,440 tonnes, down by 2.6% year on year from 8,665 tonnes.
Month on month, imports increased by 8.7% from April’s 7,768 tonnes, tracking lower prices on Asian material.
Major US producers of epoxy resins include Dow Chemical, Huntsman and Momentive.
