HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acetic acid exports in May increased nearly 16% from a big gain in shipments to the top destination, Belgium, according to data released on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US acetic acid exports totalled 114,328 tonnes in May, compared with 98,977 tonnes in the same month of 2012.
Shipments to Belgium - the largest destination - accounted for more than the total increase, rising to 57,575 tonnes from 40,141 tonnes in May 2012.
Major US acetic acid sellers include BP, Celanese and Eastman Chemical.
