HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ethylene dichloride (EDC) exports in May rose by 4% over the same month a year earlier, according to US International Trade Commission (ITC) data made available on Monday.
US producers shipped 92,005 tonnes of EDC in May, compared with 88,424 tonnes in May 2012, the ITC said.
Year-to-date, the US has shipped abroad 412,915 tonnes of EDC, 62% more than the 255,560 tonnes shipped during the same period in 2012.
Japan was the top destination for US EDC in May at 31,649 tonnes. It was followed by China (29,669 tonnes), Korea (19,733 tonnes) and Egypt (5,350 tonnes).
Major US PVC producers include Axiall, Occidental Chemical, Dow Chemical and Westlake.
