HOUSTON (ICIS) --US maleic anhydride (MA) exports in May were down 10% from the same month one year earlier, according to US International Trade Commission (ITC) data released on Monday.
The US shipped 4,093 tonnes of MA in May, compared with 4,552 tonnes in May 2012, the ITC said.
Mexico was the top destination for US MA in May at 1,382 tonnes. It twas followed by Canada (915 tonnes), Colombia (562 tonnes) and Brazil (415 tonnes).
Meanwhle, imports of MA into the US in May were 947 tonnes, up 130% from the same month in 2012.
The top importer to the US in May was Korea at 329 tonnes. It was followed by Brazil (200 tonnes), China, (145 tonnes) and Germany (140 tonnes).
Major US MA producers include Huntsman, LANXESS, Ashland and Flint Hills Resources.
