US ethyl acetate exports up 31% year on year; imports up less

HOUSTON (ICIS) – US ethyl acetate exports in May were up 31% year on year, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) Monday.

Exports increased from 2,498 tonnes in May 2012 to 3,283 tonnes in May 2013. Year to date, exports increased 14% from the same period in 2012.

The largest jump in ethyl acetate exports for May went to Brazil, from zero products in 2012 to 850 tonnes in 2013. Columbia also saw a big jump, from 10 tonnes in May 2012 to 597 tonnes in May 2013.

Other countries seeing ethyl acetate exports include Canada, China, Mexico, Chile, Ecudaor, Peru, Italy and the Bahamas.

Ethyl acetate imports saw a slight increase year on year, up from 9% in May 2012. The country with the largest increase for imports was Mexico, which saw a 38% increase.

Other countries seeing ethyl acetate import increases include India, Singapore and China.
