HOUSTON (ICIS)--US urea imports in May 2013 were down about 14% from the same month a year earlier, according to data made available on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
Urea imports fell to 437,225 tonnes in May from 509,097 tonnes in May 2012. Imports fell in May mainly because of decreased product from Russia.
May 2013 imports were down from 753,349 tonnes of urea in April 2013.
Qatar at 155,365 tonnes was the major source of US urea imports, followed by Canada at 135,185 and Oman at 44,102.
Other sources included Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and the Netherlands.
