SINGAPORE (ICIS) – Indonesia’s domestic linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and polypropylene (PP) prices have increased by $10-20/tonne (€8-16/tonne) from last week on restocking, market sources said on Wednesday.

Offers for PP flat yarn grades in the domestic market are at $1,570-1,580/tonne DEL (delivered) this week, while those for LLDPE are at $1,550-1,560/tonne DEL, local distributors said.

Restocking activity in the LLDPE market is being driven by the unexpected shutdown of a 200,000 tonne/year plant operated by PT Lotte Chemical Titan, they said.

For PP yarn grades, local plastics end-users are replenishing stocks on the back of improved downstream demand, the distributors said.

“Some local processors started restocking on PP flat yarn resins because they received orders from the local fertiliser factories for non-woven bags recently,” one of the distributors said.

Non-woven bag is a key application of PP flat yarn resins in Indonesia.
