Europe chlorine output up in June from May, caustic soda stocks fall

LONDON (ICIS)--Average European daily chlorine production in June 2013 rose by 1% month on month, industry body Euro Chlor said on Wednesday.

Average chlorine production for the region - comprising the EU, Norway and Switzerland - stood at 26,188 tonnes/day compared with 25,929 tonnes/day in May.

Chlorine production in the region was 3.3% higher compared with 25,349 tonnes/day in June 2012, Euro Chlor added.

June caustic soda stocks stood at 258,714 tonnes, down 7,985 tonnes from May when they were at 266,699 tonnes. However, caustic soda stocks were 1.2% above the level of June 2012.

Chlorine capacity utilisation stood at 75.6% in June, compared with 73.2% in the same month last year.
