LONDON (ICIS)--Trade group Cefic said on Wednesday the European Commission’s steps to strengthen innovation within the chemical industry will spur on the region’s competitiveness.
The Commission today officially promoted a large set of public private partnerships (PPPs) within its new research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020, to spur innovation in key industrial sectors in Europe.
Cefic said several of the announced PPPs put strong emphasis on chemical sector innovations as the basis to keep and create jobs, and promote growth in Europe.
Gernot Klotz, Cefic executive director for research and innovation, said: “The Commission initiative is a major step forward, sending a clear, positive signal for the process industries to establish innovative approaches that will spur European competitiveness.”
