SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Daqing Petrochemical plans to shut its polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plants in Heilongjiang province for a 15-day regular maintenance from 5 August, a company source said on Friday.
The plants include a 65,000 tonne/year and a 200,000 tonne/year low density polyethylene (LDPE) units; three 80,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) units; a 300,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene/linear low density polyethylene (HDPE/LLDPE) swing unit and a 100,000 tonne/year PP unit.
Its 85,000 tonne/year LLDPE unit was shut on 8 May and its 250,000 tonne/year HDPE/LLDPE swing unit was taken off line on 23 June due to lack of feedstock, the source said.
The overall impact of plant shutdowns on the PE and PP markets may be muted because of weak demand, industry players said.
