HOUSTON (ICIS)--CF Industries has received final air emission permits for its $3.8bn (€2.9bn) expansion projects in Louisiana and Iowa, the US-based fertilizer producer said on Tuesday.
Announced in November, the Donaldson project in Louisiana consists of new urea and urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) units scheduled to come on stream in the second half of 2015 and a new ammonia plant set for 2016. The new ammonia and urea plants in Port Neal, Iowa will come on line in 2016.
CF Industries said the two projects will produce 2.1m tonnes/year of ammonia, 2.0m-2.6m tonnes of granular urea and up to 1.8m tonnes of UAN solutions.
“With the issuance of these permits, we remain on track to begin construction activities at both sites this summer and believe that our projects will be among the first in North America to be in production,” said Stephen Wilson, CEO of CF Industries.
