CAMPINAS, Brazil (ICIS)--Brazilian sales of fertilizers increased about 6% in June year over year, to 2.61m tonnes in 2013 from 2.46m tonnes in 2012, according to statistics released on Tuesday by the country’s Fertilizers Distribution Association (Anda).
Production rose about 3% in June compared with the year prior, to 822,090 tonnes from 797,441 tonnes.
Sales of fertilizers in the first half of 2013 increased almost 4% year over year, reaching 12.1m tonnes, while production rose about 3% in the same period to 4.6m tonnes.
Imports of fertilizer intermediates decreased more than 1% in June to 2.03m tonnes. But imports of fertilizer intermediates increased 23% in H1 2013 year over year to 9.6m tonnes.
June exports of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium-based fertilizers rose 22% year over year to 68,465 tonnes.
H1 2013 exports of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium-based fertilizers increased 64% year over year to 341,767 tonnes.
