Japan June ethylene output declines 6.3% from May

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of ethylene in June fell to 519,300 tonnes, down by 6.3% from the previous month, official data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) showed on Wednesday.

Compared with the same period last year, the country’s ethylene output increased by 13%, according to the METI.

Two naphtha crackers were shut for turnarounds in June compared with one shut cracker in the previous month, the data showed.

In June last year, two crackers were also off line for turnarounds, METI said.
