HOUSTON (ICIS)--KBR announced Wednesday it has been selected by Russian fertilizer producer Togliattiazot Corporation (ToAZ) to perform revamp studies for its seven ammonia plant facilities in Togliatti, Russia.

In the initial phase, KBR will evaluate plant operations in order to identify any bottleneck issues, define the technical and commercial requirements as well as examine the plant’s process schemes before implementing the company’s renowned revamp technologies.

KBR officials said the goal of the work is to significantly assist ToAZ to increase its operational efficiencies and reliability, which in turn will enhance the total production of ammonia.

The ToAZ revamp will be the largest to date upgrade of an ammonia complex. KBR did not immediately reveal when the study is expected to commence or a time frame for project completion.

“KBR is proud to be selected by ToAZ for this revamp study,” said John Derbyshire, KBR Technology president. “Helping our clients achieve greater production capacities with no lost shutdown time is one of our core competencies and will continue to be an area of significant growth worldwide.”

Based in Houston, KBR is a leading engineering, construction and service company and has been involved with the licensing and designing of more than 200 plants across the globe.
