LONDON (ICIS)--INEOS Technologies’ Innovene gas phase polypropylene (PP) process has been chosen by China-based producer Oriental Energy for a PP unit in Ningbo, the Switzerland-headquartered chemicals producer said on Thursday.

Oriental Energy subsidiary, Ningbo Fuji Petrochemical, is building a 400,000 tonne/year PP plant in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province.

The unit will take propylene from an upstream propane dehydrogenation process at the same site and produce PP resins including homopolymers, random copolymers and impact copolymers.

Financial details were not disclosed.

“Oriental Energy Company is embarking on an ambitious expansion program what would make it one of the major players in the market for olefins and polyolefins in China,” said Peter Grant, business director of INEOS Technologies, INEOS said.

“We are pleased that the company has chosen to select us as technology provider to serve the important Eastern China market. The Innovene PP process is ideal for this facility as it provides proven technology and products already widely accepted in the China market,” he added.
