LONDON (ICIS)--Primary form Polyacetal (POM) imports into the EU fell by 6% in April and 16% in May year on year, according to data from Eurostat on Thursday.
The fall in import volumes came despite low priced spot offers for POM from Asia.
The EU imported 5,255 tonnes of primary form POM compared with 5,573 tonnes in April 2012. EU POM imports in May were 4,920 tonnes compared with 5,832 tonnes in May 2012.
Exports of primary form POM fell by 19% in April and 1% in May, year on year, according to Eurostat. The EU exported 4,383 tonnes of primary form POM in April 2013, compared with 5,381 tonnes in April 2012. In May 2013, the region exported 4,483 tonnes of primary form POM compared with 4,513 tonnes in May 2012.Eurostat import/export data is subject to revision as more detailed information becomes available.
