LONDON (ICIS)--Monoethanolamine (MEA) imports from the rest of the world fell in May year on year, while exports from the EU increased, according to data released on Thursday by Eurostat.

Imports from the rest of the world decreased by 23%, while exports increased by 18%.

Despite the year-on-year drop in imports, the market was under pressure from competitively-priced material from South America and Thailand, as well as a fall in major feedstock ethylene.

In April, year on year, imports increased by 20%, while exports increased by 50%.
