LONDON (ICIS)--Net methanol imports into the EU in May 2013 were down 22%, compared with May 2012, data from European statistics agency Eurostat showed on Thursday.
Total methanol imports to the EU in May 2012 were 633,007 tonnes. This figure fell to 500,553 tonnes in May 2013.
Exports increased from 4,737 tonnes to 12,192 tonnes.
Net imports during April also fell, from 560,018 in 2012 to 518,522 in 2013.
The trend contrasts with that of the first quarter, which showed an increase in net imports from 2012 to 2013.
