EU TiO2 imports up, exports down in April and May: Eurostat

LONDON (ICIS)--EU titanium dioxide (TiO2) imports from the rest of the world fell while exports rose in April and May, compared with the same months in 2012, data by Eurostat showed this week.

The European TiO2 market is long and producers have been keen on shifting surplus volumes to overseas in an effort to cut the length in Europe, resulting in the decreases detailed in the table below.

Demand from the construction, automotive and decorative paper industries is weak, which resulted in the drop in imports.
