LONDON (ICIS)--Freight rates between Europe and East Asia have decreased on low demand and healthy vessel availability, according to shipping sources on Friday.
Freight rates for 2,000 tonnes of easy chemicals from Rotterdam to Taiwan were assessed lower by $10/tonne at $85-95/tonne (€65-72/tonne).
“Rates are horrible. A lot of ships in Europe would like to go to Asia but won’t take a hit to do it and are going via a different route,” one operator said.
