SINGAPORE (ICIS)--At least 50 people were killed and over 300 were injured after a strong earthquake struck Gansu province in northwestern China on Monday morning, according to media reports.
The earthquake hit near the city of Dingxi at around 7:45 hours local time (23:45 GMT) with a magnitude of 6.6, according to state news agency Xinhua.
The US Geological Survey measured the magnitude of the quake as 5.9 at a depth of 9.8 km (6 miles).
No significant damage to industrial production sites have been reported.
