SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japanese refiner Cosmo Oil has restarted the 120,000 bbl/day No 2 crude distillation unit (CDU) at its Chiba refinery on Wednesday after completing scheduled maintenance at the unit, a company source said.
The No 2 CDU at the 220,000 bbl/day refinery was taken off line on 8 May.
Meanwhile, Cosmo Oil plans to shut down its CDU No 1 at the site with a 100,000 bbl/day capacity in the Autumn of 2013 for scheduled maintenance , the source said, without providing the exact shutdown dates.
The No 1 CDU restarted on 6 May this year after being shut down since June 2012.
From mid-2012 until earlier this year, the CDUs and secondary units at the Chiba refinery had been shut for government inspection following discovery of an oil leakage from the refinery to the sea.
