LONDON (ICIS)--Europe butyl acrylate (butyl-A) spot prices rose further on Wednesday, amid ongoing tightness, sources said, to reach a 20-month high.
Prices are at €1,650-1,750/tonne ($2,171-2,303/tonne) FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe).
The last time butyl-A spot prices were at this level was in November 2011.
Availability has been limited since June.
BASF implemented force majeure on butyl-A on 13 June because of production problems at its 110,000 tonne/year Ludwigshafen facility in Germany. It was lifted on 21 June, and sales controls were put in place until further notice.
AA and its esters are used in the manufacture of various plastics, coatings, adhesives and elastomers, as well as floor polishes and paints.
