MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Shanghai Huayi Group has postponed the restart of its 200,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate (etac) plant at Wuwei in Anhui province from end-July because of weak market conditions, a company source said on Friday.

The etac plant was originally scheduled to be restarted on 25-26 July after completing a turnaround, the source said.

However, unfavourable market conditions have prompted the company to delay restarting the etac unit, the source said, adding that a new schedule for resuming operations has not been set.

The etac plant, along with the company’s upstream 500,000 tonne/year acetic acid unit and 600,000 tonne/year methanol unit at the same site, was taken off line in late June to undergo maintenance.
