HOUSTON (ICIS)--Planned work at Valero’s Corpus Christi refinery in Texas will not affect overall production at the refinery, a company spokesperson said on Friday.

Valero will conduct maintenance at the west plant of its 200,000 bbl/day refinery, according to a filing with a state committee. The incident may result in flaring throughout the weekend, the filing said.

Valero spokesperson Bill Day said the planned work will take place on a sulfolane unit, which is used to extract aromatic components from the product of a catalytic reforming unit using a solvent and in natural gas purificaiton.
