US Olin interested in Dow's chlorine derivative assets: CEO
The CEO of US-based Olin said that the company would be interested in the commodity chlorine derivative assets of Dow Chemical.

US PS prices fall 2 cents/lb in July on feedstocks
July contract prices in the US polystyrene (PS) market were down by 2 cents/lb ($44/tonne, €33/tonne), based on a 7.9% drop in feedstock benzene costs, sources said.

US July phenol falls 4.76 cents/lb on lower benzene
The US phenol contract range for July fell sharply on lower benzene, sources confirmed.

CSB, OSHA at odds over actions taken toward chem plant safety
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) said it has taken “strong action” to address hazards identified by the Chemical Safety Board (CSB) despite the CSB labelling many of those actions as “Open-Unacceptable Response”.

US PET prices see mixed settlement for July
US polyethylene terephthalate (PET) prices are seeing mixed settlements for the month of July, with some prices down and some deals concluded at a rollover from June prices, sources said.

Methanex expects moves from Chile to be done by end September
Methanex’s move of two idle methanol plants in Chile to Louisiana should be finished by the end of September, the company’s top executive said.
