To be established in the province of Yunnan, southern China, the joint venture will produce up to 60,000 tonnes/year of potassium nitrate and up to 200,000 tonnes/year of chloride-free nitrogen phosphorous potassium (NPK) fertilizers, to be sold in China.
Construction of the plant will begin in 2013 and production will start in 2014, EuroChem said.
“We already sell over 200,000 tonnes of specialty NPK fertilizers in the Chinese market, and the new joint venture is a next logical step as we continue to expand our presence in the region and aim to increase the share of specialty fertilizers in our product mix,” said EuroChem CEO Dmitry Strezhnev.
