Czech producer Spolchemie has delayed the initiation of its perchloroethylene (perc) production campaign for unspecified operational reasons .
The company announced intentions last week, to start a new periodic production campaign on 29 July, lasting until 15 August.
A company source said it had not succeeded in restarting its 15,000 tonne/year perc plant on its first attempt yesterday owing to “common” operational reasons and added it was “nothing serious”.
“We will restart [the plant] either today or tomorrow,” the source added.
The plant is situated in Usti nad Labem in the north of the country. Other European perc producers include Dow Chemical, Solvay and Anwil.
