SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shenghong Group is delaying the start-up of its new 1.5m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Lianyungang in Jiangsu province to the first quarter of next year, from end-2013, a company source said on Wednesday.
“We expect to put the line into operation after the 2014 Chinese Lunar New year holiday in end-January,” the source said, citing a slight delay in project construction.
Output from the new PTA plant will be mainly fed into Shenghong’s own polyester plants, with a small portion to be sold to the spot market, the source said.
Shenghong is one of the largest polyester producers in China. Its polyester filament yarn capacity has reached 1.3m tonne/year in end-2012.
