SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sanfangxiang Group expects to start up its new 400,000 tonne/year of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) line late in the third quarter, although no exact date has been set, a company source said on Wednesday.
The new PET line in Jiangsu province was initially scheduled to start up in March or April but it was delayed. The reason for the delay was not specified.
“The plan is to start up the new line in late August or early September but no exact date has been set,” the company source said.
“[The start-up schedule] will also depend on the market condition then,” the source added.
The company also expects to add a 300,000 tonne/year of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) production capacity to its existing 1.2m tonne/year PTA unit during an upcoming turnaround.
