HOUSTON (ICIS)--US finished butadiene (BD) production in Q2 2013 totalled about 729m lbs (331,000 tonnes), up about 0.4% from 726m lbs a year earlier, the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) said on Wednesday.
BD output for the second quarter fell by almost 9% from 800m lbs in Q1 2013, the group said.
The total BD production for the first half of 2013 was about 1.53bn lbs, up almost 3% from 1.49bn lbs in H1 2012, according to the AFPM.
US BD inventories in the second quarter stood at 123m lbs, almost a 9% increase year over year from 113m lbs in Q2 2012 but almost 8% decrease from 133m lbs in Q1 2013.
AFPM’s quarterly data is based on voluntary reports. Participating in the survey were BASF, ExxonMobil, Firestone, INEOS, Invista, ISP Elastomers, Lanxess, Lion Copolymer, LyondellBasell, Mitsui, OMNOVA, Shell and TPC Group.
