HOUSTON (ICIS)--US second quarter 2013 benzene production and inventories were up from the same time a year ago, according to data released by the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) on Wednesday.
Second-quarter benzene production was at 475m gal, up by 24% from 383m gal in the second quarter of 2012.
Year-to-date production in 2013 also increased to 862m gal, up by 7.8% from year-to-date production at the same time in 2012.
Meanwhile, second quarter benzene inventories were at 112m gal, up by 36% from 82m gal in the second quarter of 2012.
Major US benzene producers include BP, Chevron Phillips, LyondellBasell, Flint Hills, Shell and ExxonMobil – all of which contributed production figures included in the AFPM survey.?xml:namespace>
