HOUSTON (ICIS)--US phenol production in the second quarter of 2013 totalled about 645m lbs (293,000 tonnes), down by 24% from 848m lbs one year earlier, the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) said on Wednesday.
However, phenol output for the second quarter was up by about 5% from 614m lbs in the previous quarter, the group said.
Total phenol production for the first half of 2013 was about 1.26bn lbs, down by nearly 32% from 1.84bn lbs in H1 2012, according to the AFPM.
AFPM’s quarterly data is based on voluntary reports.
Participating in the survey were Axiall, Ineos Phenol, Dow Chemical and Shell Chemical.
