HOUSTON (ICIS)--US methyl methacrylate (MMA) producer Lucite has resumed shipments to North American customers from its plant in Memphis, Tennessee, the company said on Friday.
The resumption of domestic supply - at undisclosed allocation levels - came sooner than the company anticipated.
Following a second unplanned outage in as many weeks at one of Lucite’s raw materials suppliers, the company ceased shipments from its Memphis site more than a week ago.
The company initially announced that it hoped to begin supplying customers during the week of 5 August.
“We were able to get a little ahead,” a company source said. “We’ll come out of this as quickly as possible, and we hope to increase the allocation level as we move forward.”
Current MMA railcar prices are in a range of $1.18-1.22/lb ($2,601-2,690/tonne, €1,977-2,044/tonne), as assessed by ICIS.
US MMA producers include Lucite, Arkema, Dow Chemical and Evonik.
