SINGAPORE (ICIS)--PetroChina has selected LP OxoSM technology to produce ethylhexanol, normal butanol and iso butyraldehyde in its major petrochemical complex at Jieyang in China’s Guangdong province, Dow Chemical said on Monday.

The Chinese petrochemical giant has obtained license for the use of the process technology from US’ Dow Chemical and UK-headquartered Johnson Matthey Davy Technologies (JM Davy).

The Jieyang complex will be operated by PetroChina subsidiary Guangdong Petrochemical.

The complex with a capacity of 85,000 tonnes/year of 2-ethylhexanol, 235,000 tonnes/year of normal butanol and 33,000 tonnes/year of iso-butyraldehyde, will apply the LP OxoSM SELECTORSM 10 Technology with advanced liquid phase hydrogenation, which features a high conversion of propylene to alcohols, low capital investment and easy operation, Dow Chemical said.

Construction and start-up details of the project have not been disclosed.
