LONDON (ICIS)--European liquid epoxy resins (LER) contract prices have declined by €50/tonne ($67/tonne) in August while solid epoxy resins (SER) prices rolled over because the market is oversupplied and demand is weak, sources said on Tuesday.
The August LER contract were agreed at €2,525-2,575/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe), while SER contracts settled at €2,430-2,480/tonne FD NWE.
SER sales have declined in southern Europe because of summer shutdowns. The only sector that is performing well is can coatings, which is driven by higher soft drink sales, an SER producer said.
The LER market is not much more active, owing to the same reasons. Some negotiations have been postponed to September or to later in August when sales managers return from their Europe summer holidays.
