MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Japanese producer KH Neochem is capping the operating rate at its 30,000 tonne/year glycol ethers plant at Yokkaichi in Mie prefecture at around 80% of capacity because of unfavourable market conditions, a company official said on Thursday.

The producer reduced its glycol ethers output in early July. The plant was running at 90-100% previously, the official said.

“We will keep our plant running at the reduced rate until market conditions improve,” said the official.

The plant was shut between mid-March and late April for annual maintenance.

Glycol ethers produced by KH Neochem include those derived from ethylene glycol, as well as from propylene glycol, according to the company website.
