US Polycarbonate exports drop by 20% in June, ITC

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of polycarbonate (PC) in June dropped by 20% compared with a year ago to 30,576 tonnes from 38,311 tonnes a year ago, according to data released Thursday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Exports to China fell by 16% to 10,421 tonnes from 12,392 tonnes a year ago, while exports to Mexico rose nearly 8% to 9,438 tonnes from 8,778 tonnes, the ITC reported.

US PC exports to Canada declined by almost 10% to 2,527 tonnes from 2,805 tonnes, while exports to Brazil dropped almost 17% to 1,900 tonnes from 2,280 tonnes a year ago.

Major US producers of polycarbonate include Bayer Material Science, SABIC and Styron.
