HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of expandable polystyrene (EPS) for June were down by 3.7% from the same month in 2012, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Thursday.
US EPS exports fell to 7,036 tonnes in June 2013 from 7,307 tonnes in the same month of 2012.
Mexico, Hong Kong and Canada were the top destinations for US exports, with Mexico and Canada taking less material than in 2012 and Hong Kong taking slightly more.
US EPS imports rose by 20% in June to 16,848 tonnes, up from 14,095 tonnes in 2012.
The Bahamas, Canada and Mexico were the top importers into the US.
Major North American EPS producers are BASF, Nova Chemicals, Flint Hills Resources, Styrochem and Nexkemia.
