HOUSTON (ICIS)--LyondellBasell shut down its low density polyethylene (LDPE) AB3 Unit at its LaPorte polymers plant in Texas on Thursday, according to a public filing.
The company said a power failure caused the unit to shut down. The power failure also caused reactor vents to open to the atmosphere, according to the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The system was depressured to a safe level to the unit flare, according to the report. It was not clear whether the unit had been restarted.
A company spokesman said the company does not comment on regulatory filings or the operational status of its facilities.
The company has a 200,000 tonne/year capacity LDPE unit in LaPorte, according to ICIS plants and projects.
