SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Philippines’ DFE Chemical shut its 30,000 tonne/year polystyrene (PS) unit in late July due to a shortage of feedstock styrene monomer (SM), a company source said on Friday.

The company plans to restart the Manila-based plant in the second half of September when feedstock is expected to become available.

The unit underwent a maintenance shutdown in the first half of July.

Other PS manufacturers in southeast Asia include Denka, Total Petrochemicals and Petrochemical Malaysia.
