SINGAPORE (ICIS)--India’s ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals Ltd (OMPL) plans to achieve mechanical completion at its new aromatics unit by September, a company source said on Friday.
The complex, located in New Mangalore, comprises a 920,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) plant and a 270,000 tonne/year benzene unit.
The company plans to commission the facility in October, the source added.
However, some market participants were of the view that the company may have to push the start up date back due to possible construction delays in laying out the required pipelines along the shore in view of the current monsoon season.
India’s rainy season typically lasts from June to end-August.
