MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Shanghai Huayi Group has restarted its 200,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate (etac) plant at Wuwei in Anhui province after shutting it on 7 August because of mechanical failure, a company source said on Friday.

The etac unit, along with its upstream 500,000 tonne/year acetic acid unit and 600,000 tonne/year methanol unit at the site, was restarted on 15 August, the source said.

However, the company has yet to achieve stable operations at the three units, which are running at below 30% capacity, the source added.

The producer will continue to ramp up the output at all the units, the source said.
