Correction: In the ICIS story headlined "Lucite International to shut Shanghai MMA unit this week" dated 16 August 2013, please read in the first paragraph "... plant in Shanghai…” instead of “…plant in Singapore…” A corrected story follows.
SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Lucite International is expected to shut its methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant in Shanghai because of production issues, a source close to the company said.
The plant will be off line for a week, the source added.
The plant has a capacity of 100,000 tonnes/year and uses the acetone cyanohydrin process to produce MMA.
Lucite International is a subsidiary of Japanese producer Mitsubishi Rayon Co (MRC), which is one of the largest MMA producers in Asia.
