MOSCOW (ICIS)--Russia-based petrochemicals producer SIBUR announced on Monday that its new styrene-butadiene thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) unit has reached its full design capacity.
Located at the company’s Voronezh, Russia facility, the unit is now running at a production capacity of 50,000 tonnes/year, SIBUR added.
"The new facility proceeds to operate in the production and maintenance mode," said Viktor Kuklinov, CEO of SIBUR synthetic rubber arm Voronezhsintezkauchuk.
"From now on, the consumers will receive extra volumes of cutting-edge polymer materials for the road building industry and roof coatings," he added.
SIBUR's Voronezh site is the only TPE manufacturer in Russia. SIBUR commissioned the new TPE unit on 23 May, 2013. The planned capacity of the Voronezh site is 85,000 tonnes/year, according to the company.
