EU MTBE imports rise, exports decline in June year on year

LONDON (ICIS)--EU imports of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) increased in June year on year, data from European statistics agency Eurostat showed on Monday.

Imports into the EU from the rest of the world were 47,070 tonnes in June, compared with 28,760 tonnes in June 2012 – an increase of 64%.

Meanwhile, exports from the EU fell by 21% over the same period.

Data shows 40,556 tonnes of MTBE was exported to the rest of the world in June, compared with 51,122 tonnes in June 2012.

Eurostat import/export data is subject to revision as more detailed information becomes available.
