LONDON (ICIS)--EU acrylonitrile (ACN) imports from the rest of the world rose by 21% in June year on year, according to data from statistics agency Eurostat on Monday.

Overseas material with a feedstock cost advantage during the second quarter and low-priced imports had been placing downward pressure on European material.

Expectations of feedstock cost rises in the US reversing the advantage over Europe led to a spate of pre-buying in June.

Nevertheless, exports from the EU rose by 95% year on year as downstream demand domestically remained weak.
