China’s July petrochemical output shows marked increase

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Production of many petrochemicals in China recorded a double-digit year-on-year increase in July on the back of stable economic growth, according to data released by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association (CPCIA) on Tuesday.

Ethylene output in July stood at 1.324m tonnes, up by 10.3% year on year and its total output was recorded at 9.27m tonnes in the first seven months.

Similary, benzene also posted a 16.4% year-on-year increase in output to 620,000 tonnes in July. Polyethylene (PE) output rose by 15.5% to 880,000 tonnes while polypropylene (PP) output increased by 16% in July year on year.

Crude output increased by 1.9% year on year to 17.17m tonnes in July, while its total output from January to July achieved 120.78m tonnes, up by 3.9% year on year, the data showed.

Crude processing output volume reached 40.3m tonnes, increased by 7.1% year on year in July, according to the data.
