Japan July ABS resins domestic shipments rise 10% from June

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s domestic shipments of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resins in July increased by 10% month on month to 20,115 tonnes, official industry data showed on Tuesday.

The volume represents a 2% decrease from the same time a year earlier, according to the Nihon ABS jushi kogyokai (Japan ABS resin­ industry association).

Of the total ABS domestic shipments, 7,876 tonnes went to car production and 2,473 tonnes went to the manufacture of electric appliances.

Japan’s ABS resins exports in July, meanwhile, totaled 11,340 tonnes, up by 8% month on month but were down 3% year on year, industry data showed.
