SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Yeochun NCC (YNCC) will shut its No 3 aromatics unit in Yeosu on 7 October for a nine to 10-day long turnaround for catalyst regeneration, a company source said on Friday.

The No 1 aromatics unit has a nameplate capacity of 140,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 80,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 50,000 tonnes/year of solvent xylene, the source said.

At the same site, YNCC owes No 2 and No 3 aromatics plants which can produce 120,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 60,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 40,000 tonnes/year of solvent xylene each.

All three aromatics units are running at above 90% because of mixed feed and will continue to operate at this rate in September, he said.

“We are not sure whether the operating rates [of the aromatics facility] will increase in October. This will depend on the type of feedstock procured,” he added.
